New Delhi:
Ellen DeGeneres really wanted to talk about cat videos but ended up giving an unforgettable lecture on black holes instead.
This video, from March this year, features the TV host spinning a wheel to decide what her subject of the day should be (Cat videos! Cat videos! Make it cat videos!) (Also Read: A Salman Khan fan on Ellen's show)
Unfortunately, the god of cat videos wasn't listening but the god of quantum physics was. Ellen's science lesson, delivered in typically Ellen manner, isn't one you're going to forget in a hurry.
This is what Ellen thinks you should know about black holes:
-They're invisible. You'll never see a black hole, just like you'll never see an ugly puppy.
-Albert Einstein wasn't always right. He was wrong about black holes. He thought they didn't exist. They do - even though nobody can see them.
-Black holes are formed when a star collapses - Ellen couldn't find a photo of a star collapsing so the accompanying picture shows actress Jennifer Lawrence sprawled on the stairs of the Oscar podium. That works too.
-Scientists know a black hole exists by the way things around them act, just as "if you see a middle-aged man driving a Corvette, you know he's divorced."
