Mumbai:
Musician AR Rahman, who has composed music for Mohenjo Daro, said that when director Ashutosh Gowariker told him about it, he thought it would be a "boring" historical documentary.
At a press conference for the film, Mr Gowariker asked Rahman how he had managed to come up with a good album for the film.
"Initially when you said Mohenjo Daro, I thought it's going to be like a historic documentary. It's going to be so boring," said Rahman.
"But then when you showed me all the pictures, it really inspired me. So I was trying to go to that zone and unearth with my imagination," said Rahman.
Rahman also composed music for Mr Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar. In Mohenjo Daro, there are eight tracks, out of which Tu Hai sung by him is already out.
Mr Gowariker asked Rahman how he managed to keep diverse cultures blended, considering his music for Hollywood films, Indian films and the South American style music which he gave for Pele: Birth of a Legend.
"I used to do it better before. I can't do it anymore. I am getting older. I want to go deeper into things," said Rahman.
"We are connected as human beings. We all have the same emotions, love, sadness, anger, romance and dreams. So, I tap on to that universal factor of an emotion and the rest of it is just covering. It's sweetening but the core of connecting all of us is the same. It's incredible," he said.
Mohenjo Daro is scheduled to release on August 12.
