Mumbai: Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman will be honoured with the Hridaynath Mangeshkar Award in Mumbai on October 26.
Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai will present the fifth Hridaynath Award to Mr Rahman on the birth anniversary of Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar, younger brother of legendary playback singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.
The first Hridaynath Award was presented to Lataji. Asha, Amitabh Bachchan and Sulochana Tai have also received this award.
Mr Bachchan received the fourth Hridaynath Award and it was presented to legendary actress Sulochana Tai in 2014.(Also Read: Amitabh Bachchan receives Hridaynath Mangeshkar award)
In 2009, Mr Rahman won the Oscar for Best Original Score and Best Original Song, sharing it with lyricist Gulzar, for Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire.
Mr Rahman has also won four National Awards in a career spanning over two decades.
