New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's five-year Clean India campaign has found a celebrity supporter in actor Aamir Khan.
The Dhoom: 3 star told the press today: "I clean up at home and our office is waste-free. We should all support the Prime Minister in this step."
Aamir, whose social activism TV show Satyamev Jayate has highlighted issues such as female foeticide and medical malpractices, also said, "I will be happy if they offer me this responsibility."
Aamir emphasised on the need to be mindful of how waste products are disposed of. "Municipal Corporation has to use the solid and waste material in the right way," he said.
PM Modi is launching the campaign, titled Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, today on Mahatma Gandhi's 145th birth anniversary. "This is a kind of gift to Mahatma Gandhi," Aamir told the press.
The third season of Satyamev Jayate begins this Sunday. Aamir, who was named one of Time Magazine 100 Most Influential People last year, also has a major movie out this year - Rajkumar Hirani's PK, co-starring Anushka Sharma and Sanjay Dutt, which releases around Christmas.
