New Delhi: The Aamir Khan-Sunny Leone alliance, having begun serendipitously, appears to be progressing in fits and starts. Aamir, 50, was recently in New Delhi filming Dangal and learnt that the 34-year-old actress happened to be in the city at the same time. An invite followed, reports Mumbai Mirror.

Aamir asked Sunny and her husband Daniel Weber to his hotel for lunch and the meal continued till teatime, reports Mumbai Mirror. "The conversation spilled over into evening tea before they called it a day. Aamir then extended an invitation to them to visit him on the sets the next day," the report quotes a source as saying. They topic of conversation was, no surprises, movies. Naan and sabzi was reportedly on the menu.

On set, Sunny Leone "obliged everyone with selfies and while leaving, gave him (Aamir) a warm hug."

This unlikely friendship began last month when Sunny Leone was the subject of an uncomfortable TV interview that was widely criticized as sexist, judgmental and unfair. Among the questions that were asked was one on whether the former adult film star thought that Aamir Khan would ever work with her. The question was answered for Sunny when the actor himself tweeted in her defence two days later: "I think Sunny conducted herself with a lot of grace and dignity in this interview.... I wish I could have said the same about the interviewer. And yes Sunny, I will be happy to work with you. I have absolutely no problems with your "past", as the interviewer puts it. Stay blessed. Cheers. Aamir"

In an interview to news agency IANS, Sunny Leone said: "Even if I get the opportunity to work with him for a second, I would be the happiest girl in the world forever. Even if I am just passing behind, I would be very happy. I think it is any actor's - whether it is male or female - dream to work with such an amazing person and such an amazing actor."

Sunny Leone was last seen in Maastizaade. In 2015, she featured in movies like Ek Paheli Leela and Kuch Kuch Locha Hai. Aamir Khan will next be seen in Dangal, a biopic on wrestler Mahavir Phogat. (Also Read: Sunny Leone Needs Just 'a Second' With Aamir Khan to be 'Happiest Girl')
