Aamir Khan will gift wrestler Geeta Phogat her bridal outfit for her wedding, says the actor's spokespersn. Aamir, 51, is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Dangal, which is a biopic on Geeta's father Mahavir Singh Phogat. Before that he will attend Geeta's wedding.
Dangal chronicles how Mahavir Phogat, a wrestler himself, mentored his daughters Geeta and Babita, who went on to win medals at the Commonwealth Games.
Aamir's spokesperson confirmed that the actor will personally attend Geeta's wedding on November 20 at her village of Balali in Haryana. He will also gift Geeta her outfit, usually given by the father of the bride, and take personal interest in the wedding arrangements.
The actor is personally arranging gifts for the Phogat family and for the groom's side as he is keen to participate in the celebrations as a family member.
Aamir Khan, who is extremely close to the Phogats, has been emotionally attached to Geeta and her sister Babita for the last two years while filming Dangal. In the film, actresses Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra play the role of the Phogat sisters.
Some years ago, Aamir Khan attended the wedding of the son of an autodriver he befriended in Varanasi while travelling around the country promoting his movie 3 Idiots.
Aamir plays Mahavir Phogat both as a young and an old man, putting on 25 extra kilos and then shedding it during filming.
The trailer and posters of Dangal have generated great interest.

Aamir Khan's Dangal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari also stars Sakshi Tanwar. The film releases on December 23.
