Mumbai: The Internet may have remained unbroken but the casting call that actor Aamir Khan put out on social media last week brought down the server in his office, so overwhelming was the response to his tweet and Facebook post.

Last week, the 50-year-old put out a social media plea asking people to help his banner Aamir Khan Productions identify a fresh female face who could act as well as sing for their next project.

In less than half an hour of Aamir's tweet, over 3,000 responses came in. All of these entries were heavy, as they came with a video attached. Result - the server in the office crashed, a source told IANS.

This was Aamir's post on Facebook, a shorter version of which was tweeted:

Advait Chandan, who is making his debut as director with the project, described the social media blitz as "really exciting".

In a statement, he said: "We sat up all night downloading attachments and backing them up so that we could empty the inbox! I still haven't managed to go through all the entries and the casting team is working round the clock to catalogue the submissions. We've started calling people for auditions. This is really exciting! Let's hope we find our girl soon."

The name of the film has not been revealed but we do know that A R Rahman has signed on to compose.

The work on the project has started and is at a very nascent stage. Oscar-winner AR Rahman has also come on board for the music of the film.
