Actor Aamir Khan has broken his own record with his 2014 release PK's earnings at home and abroad totaling up to Rs 615 crores worldwide. Aamir's 2013 film Dhoom: 3 was the last to hold the record with over Rs 540 crores.
From last year's films, Salman Khan's Kick and Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year trail Aamir's PK at second and third spots in global earnings.
PK, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, opened to five star reviews and has been on a record-smashing spree since it released on December 19 last year.
On January 12, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted:
#PK crosses $ 25 million mark internationally. Total: $ 25.02 million [Rs 155.48 cr]. Overseas biz.

PK leads Bollywood collections in almost every other country that the films have been released in except Malaysia, where Shah Rukh Khan's massive fan following has ensured top spot for Happy New Year.
Mr Hirani previously directed Aamir in 2010 blockbuster 3 Idiots which held all box offiice records until 2013's Chennai Express came along.
PK, in which Aamir plays a displaced alien who challenges conventional notions of religion and God, has been accused by some of being anti-Hindu. It co-stars Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjay Dutt.
