Actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan says hewas the most apprehensive when his wife Kiran Rao told himthat she was working on a film script.
Aamir feared that if the script did not work for himthen things would get most uncomfortable between them.
"Every time she mentioned she was working on it Iprayed that she would not complete it, and in time wouldabandon it," Aamir said while speaking about Dhobi Ghat, hislatest home production directed by wife Kiran.
Aamir recalled that when Kiran finally came to himwith a spiral-bound file, he felt he needed numbers of hisside to back him when he gave it a thumbs-down.
"We decided to travel to Coonoor where my cousin andfilmmaker Mansoor lives. I told Kiran that Mansoor and myselfwill hear the script narration together," Aamir said, addingthat he had often used Mansoor as a shield.
However, Aamir says as he sat down to hear the scriptwith Mansoor and his wife Tina, he was falling in love withthe characters, loved the dialogue and voice of each person,was struck by the fine, silken threads that made the narrativeand was moved to tears by the end.
"From the first scene itself, the script just suckedme in," he recalled adding that he had fallen in love withKiran, once again.
Aamir said his wife was an absolute delight to workwith as a producer and an actor.
"I feel most safe in her hands. She has clarity,sensitivity and an ability to bring the best out of her team,which makes her a leader I am happy to follow," the actorsaid.
Aamir said he has an eye for superior talent. "When Isee it, I am happy as it is inspiring. When I see that talentin my life partner, it makes me feel very proud and secure,"he said.
According to the actor, Kiran's choice of cast andcrew has been most invigorating for someone like him who hasbeen working in movies for over two decades. "As a producer,it is very rare to work with a team... all of whom are sotalented, passionate, committed and with the right attitudetowards cinema," he added.
Aamir plays a painter named Arun in the film andsports a different hair-do with a shade of grey over theforehead.
