Ten hours later, no one could come up with a chorus that would suit the flirtatious mood of the song. When the men decided to retire for the day, Mr Bakshi turned to Lakshmikant and said, Achha to hum chalte hain. (Well there, I'm leaving)".
Mr Lakshmikant responded, Phir kab miloge? (When are we meeting again?)" Prakash got a clue from this dialogue and said, "Gentlemen, we have the opening lyrics!"
Both the mood and the situation suited the theme of the song in the film where Khanna asks his lady love Asha Parekh about their next meeting.
Mr Bakshi wrote the entire lyrics in the next 25 minutes, and by midnight Lakshmikant-Pyarelal had composed the tune for a song that became a rage and popular in college campuses.
