New Delhi:

Veteran actor Sanjay Khan tweeted a public apology to Preity Zinta who, it turns out, he failed to recognise on a flight despite being introduced by his daughter Simone. Their destination was Dubai, where frequent flyer Preity as team owner of Kings XI Punjab, spent time this year during the Indian Premier League or IPL season. By Mr Khan's account, Simone omitted to mention Preity's last name and the Zinta would have triggered his memory because he's apparently watched several films Preity starred in. The 80-year-old actor didn't say when this failure to recognise took place but we imagine Preity is unlikely to be holding a grudge.

“Dear Preity - as a gentleman I thought it's my duty to apologise that I couldn't recognize you when my daughter Simone introduced you on a flight to Dubai. Only if Zinta was uttered I would have remembered you as I have seen many of your films with your beautiful face,” Sanjay Khan tweeted.

The comments on Sanjay Khan's tweet suggest he shouldn't have bothered and Preity Zinta herself has not acknowledged the actor's apology, mainly because she's currently otherwise occupied – she and husband Gene Goodenough recently welcomed twins named Jai and Gia via surrogacy.

“Hi everyone, I wanted to share our amazing news with all of you today. Gene and I are overjoyed and our hearts are filled with so much gratitude & with so much love as we welcome our twins Jai Zinta Goodenough and Gia Zinta Goodenough into our family. We are very excited about this new phase in our lives. A heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and to our surrogate for being part of this incredible journey. Loads of love and light - Gene, Preity, Jai and Gia,” Preity announced on social media last week.
