New Delhi: Bollywood actors Kamal Haasan and Vidya Balan were among the batch of this year's Padma honorees who received their awards from President Pranab Mukherjee at a glittering ceremony in New Delhi on March 31.
Kamal Haasan received the Padma Bhushan and Vidya Balan received the Padma Shri, India's third and fourth highest civilian awards respectively.
Renowned author Ruskin Bond, classical singer Begum Parceen Sultana, percussionist Vikku Vinayakram and badminton player and coach Pullela Gopichand received the Padma Bhushan.
The Padma Shris included squash player Dipika Pallikal, Bengali actress Sabitri Chatterjee, sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik and designer Wendell Rodricks. The President handed out two Padma Vibhushan, 12 Padma Bhushan and 53 Padma Shri awards at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on March 31.
