New Delhi: Writer, director and producer Aditya Chopra has worn many hats. With major successes under his belt in various roles, Aditya Chopra has helped turn his father Yash Chopra's production house Yash Raj Films into the youth-oriented modern media house that it is today. Aditya was born on May 21, 1971 to Yash and Pamela Chopra in Mumbai. He was diagnosed with Antisocial Personality Disorder as a child and spent his teen years recovering. Adi, as he is fondly called, started working as an assistant to his director father at the age of 18. After assisting his father on superhit films like Chandni and Darr, Aditya wrote and directed the landmark Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. The film, which also featured Aditya's friend Karan Johar, made a blockbuster jodi of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol and became one of the most iconic movies in the history of Indian cinema. Aditya Chopra then wrote the dialogues for his father's major hit Dil To Pagal Hai, starring SRK again, in 1997.He went behind the camera yet again for 2001's Mohabbatein which featured both Shah Rukh and Big B. The film was a major hit.

In the next few years, Aditya Chopra wrote hit films like Veer Zara, Bunty Aur Babli and Salaam Namaste which he also produced. His producing credits include the hugely successful Dhoom franchise, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Salman Khan's blockbuster Ek Tha Tiger and Jab Tak Hai Jaan which was also the last film Yash Chopra directed before his death on October 21, 2012 at the age of 80.

The exponential growth of Yash Raj Films dates from when Aditya took over the reins in the early 2000s . After his father's death in 2013, Aditya has taken over as the chairman of the studios. Yash Raj Films is active today not just in Hindi but also in regional and international film circles apart from venturing into small screen. The company has rewritten business models in Indian film industry in both production and distribution.

Aditya Chopra is also responsible for introducing and grooming many young stars in Bollywood through Yash Raj Films. He almost forced Uday Chopra and Karan Johar to join him as assistants on Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor - all owe him either their debuts or breakout roles.

Aditya is known to shy away from the spotlight and is rarely seen at events and parties.

He was married to interior designer Payal Khanna till 2009. He is believed to have met actress Rani Mukerji while working on Bunty Aur Babli in 2005. Together, they kept Bollywood guessing about their relationship status for years. On April 21, 2014, filmdom's most private couple married in an intimate ceremony in Italy attended only by close friends and family, including long-time associate Karan Johar.
