Aditya Roy Kapur will be seen opposite Shraddha Kapoor in Aashiqui 2
Mumbai:
Actor Aditya Roy Kapur, who has acted in films like Action Replayy and Guzaarish, will be seen in a new, romantic persona in his forthcoming film Aashiqui 2. He says he did not make a conscious effort to enter the romantic zone.
At the first look and music launch of Aashiqui 2, he was asked whether he ever planned to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Shah Rukh Khan.
To that, Aditya said: "Absolutely not, no plans. I think it's impossible to plan your career and make it go the way you want it to."
"There is a saying 'If you want to make god laugh, tell him your plans.' I react to work that I like, and what I think will be fun to work on, with people I find interesting and nice," he added.
"This is the bunch I am very happy to have worked with," he said at the music launch.
Meanwhile, Aditya said director Mohit Suri showed full confidence in him and his Aashiqui 2 co-star Shraddha Kapoor, and that there was no pressure on them to repeat the charm of the original 1990 film.
"They never made us feel the pressure, they never made us feel that we have something to live up to. They put their faith in us, and Mohit put his faith in us. They made us feel that they had the confidence that we would be able to carry the baton forward," Aditya said.
Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, the original Aashiqui was a musical blockbuster and starred Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal as leads.
Aashiqui 2 will release on April 26.
