Aftab has a mixed feeling about the success of Grand Masti.
Mumbai:
Actor Aftab Shivdasani does not agree with reports that his film Grand Masti is facing flak for being overtly sexual and vulgar. He argues that the adult comedy is only for entertainment and should not be taken seriously.
"Who said it? I have not heard anything like it. As far as I have heard, the audience is liking the film and no one is taking offence. It is not at all offensive... it is an entertaining film," the 35-year-old said.
"We always said that it is a film only for entertainment, not to be taken seriously," he added.
Made at Rs.35 crore, it has been written by Milap Zaveri and has earned brickbats from critics for innuendos and suggestive double-meaning dialogues.
But despite criticism, Grand Masti, a sequel to the 2004-hit Masti, opened to a bumper response at the box office and generated Rs.66.48 crore within the first week of its release.
Meanwhile, Aftab, who teamed up with Vivek Oberoi and Riteish Deshmukh in the film, has a mixed feeling over the success Grand Masti.
"I am very happy because I did not expect this kind of success. But the way it has become such a big hit, even we are shocked... We did not expect so much. The film is still in theatres and I hope people go and watch it and it becomes a bigger hit," Aftab said.
