The first trailer of Akshay Kumar's new film Airlift has been released and is a grim reminder of the 1990 evacuation of over a lakh Indians from a Kuwait under attack.
The 48-year-old-actor also shared the first posters of the movie on Twitter:
In 1990, Iraq invaded Kuwait. Expatriate Indians living in both countries were evacuated between August 13 and October 11 on board Indian Airlines flights, the government having tried and abandoned the use of military aircraft because of problems in getting airspace clearance.
Akshay, who plays Kuwait-based businessman Ranjit Katyal, tweeted a recap of the events that led up to the evacuation:
