New Delhi: Stunning in a House of CB dress and Tom Ford Jacket, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was in Delhi to promote her latest film Jazbaa. It's been five years since she last made a movie and the actress said, "I really didn't realize it had been that long, I kept saying okay, another two months, and it just kept getting extended but, well, here we are." Aishwarya, who was to initially start with Mani Ratnam's film, clarified that the director made another film instead and "there was Jazbaa too and we said let's start with it."

It was the narrative which prompted the actress to sign up for the film. "You know, when Sanjay Gupta narrated the script, I told him that Irrfan Khan would be the perfect Yohan and Shabanaji ideal for the role she now plays. Within a week Sanjay said they are on. It was as if Jazbaa was meant to be," Ash revealed.

"Yes, it's tough being a working mom, my day starts early. I would drop Aaradhya to play school. 24 hours in a day are not enough but it's a regular job and being a mom's all about juggling work. It's no different at home," she said.

"Being mom helped me play Anuradha Verma better. Five years ago if I had done this film, I would have tried to channel myself. Motherhood brings with it additional fears but I was Anuradha and going through her angst on the sets. I don't carry work back home," she added.

So, has Aaradhya seen her 'mama ' on TV?

Aishwarya said, laughing, "I am a very basic mom. The TV remote is never in Aaradhya's hand, but yes if she sees posters of us at the airport, she does say, 'is that you?' She is aware about movies though she has never watched an entire film but I do tell her that we make movies."

Next week, Aishwarya will join the cast of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The actress said, "It's unlike a Karan Johar film. As actors, we look forward to doing different things and challenging ourselves, and the directors have so much to offer these days." She added with a laugh, "See I am now saying it on national TV. There is a story by Vishal Bhardwaj which has both Irrfan and me interested."

About co-star Irrfan, she said, "It's the sheer brilliance of his talent and one hopes there are more films to do with an actor like him."

As actresses like Kangana Ranaut insist on pay parity, Aishwarya says 'a reality check is required' and that 'pay parity is going to take long, very long.'

Meanwhile, Jazbaa releases on October 9.
