"The decision to bank umbilical cord cell had to betakenat a time when I was taking baby steps to parenthood. And on ourpart, we did some research, spoke to friends and our families,of course. We were informed about it," said Ash, a youngmother herself.
Donning a red saree and black blouse with a string offragrant jasmines decorating her hair bun - the traditionalattire of women from the South, Ash looked elegant andaptly dressed for the day - Parents' Day.
On being informed it was Parents' Day, the mother oftwo-and-a-half year old Aaradhya said, "Every day is Parents'Day. We are meant to have such a beautiful experience in ourlives and let us celebrate that emotion every week and day inour lives."
Describing the situation that led to her decision togo infor stem cell banking for her daughter, she said "Knowledgecan be very very useful and once we were aware of the potentialof stem cell banking, the decision was natural and werecognised how stem cells are such a precious gift that can begiven to our children."
"I think that every expecting parent in our countryshouldbecome aware of stem cell banking. Stem cells from theumbilical cord is a nature given resource. That needs to bepreserved," she said.
