Ajay Devgn will soon be reprising the role of Vijay Salgaonkar in the sequel to the 2015 thriller Drishyam. And, we must tell you that the shooting has begun. How do we know, you ask? Ajay Devgn has announced it on Instagram. The film is being directed by Abhishek Pathak, who can also be spotted in the image shared by Ajay Devgn. Here, the director is instructing Ajay Devgn as Shriya Saran watches on. Tabu and Ishita Dutta are also part of the project. In the caption, Ajay Devgn wrote, "Can Vijay protect his family again? Drishyam 2 shoot begins," tagging Tabu and Shriya Saran among others.

The first instalment in the Drishyam franchise featured much of the same cast but was directed by the late Nishikant Kamat. Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat died, in 2020, at the age of 50. He was reportedly suffering from chronic liver disease.
Both Drishyam and Drishyam 2 are remakes of Malayalam films of the same name. The original Malayalam films have been directed and written by Jeethu Joseph, starring Mohanlal in the lead role. Mohanlal's performance as a patriarch with the sole aim to safeguard his family earned him high praise and huge box-office success.
The 2015 Hindi remake too received love from the audience and critics alike. Drishyam 2 - which will follow the lives of the Salgaonkar family as they attempt to hide a terrible secret -- is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak and Krishan Kumar.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn will soon be seen in the role of real-life mafia don Karim Lala in Gangubai Kathiawadi, which stars Alia Bhatt in the eponymous lead role. He also has the web series Rudra: The Edge of Darkness in his line-up. His other upcoming projects include RRR, Runway 34, Maidaan and Thank God.
