Mumbai:
Stills:Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji
Ajay Devgn is apparently behind the decision to model Emraan's womanising character, Abbi in 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' after the pre-marriage Akshay Kumar.
Taking his rivalry with Akshay Kumar one notch further, Devgn unapologetically compared Emraan's skirt-chasing character with Khiladi Kumar and even asked director Madhur Bhandarkar to model the role accordingly.
In this film, Ajay plays a character who is on the verge of divorce but chasing a young girl, Emraan is the flirt and Omi Vaidya the idealistic and virtuous guy.
"Popular as Khiladi all over B-Town for his escapades with the fairer sex, the pre-marriage Akshay was definitely an inspiration. Here, Emraan's character is an Abhay Suri, nicknamed Abbi (to rhyme with Akki?). It was Ajay's inputs that made Emraan's character more colourful.
He told the director that he's worked with Akshay and he could give a few very useful pointers." says a source.
Bhandarkar denies, "There are so many characters like that, why single out jsut Akshay? I have drawn traits from a lot of people I have met over the years, many from my friends.
Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji is about three guys and their relationships with women. Emraan plays a womaniser, a free-loader who believes in flings but not love."
The Ajay-Akshay rivalry started during Khakhee, when Ajay felt Akshay tampered with the roles of other actors to get more footage. Things got worse last year when Ajay was led to believe that Akshay asked Vipul Shah to release Action Replayy on the same day as Golmaal 3.
A peeved Ajay ensured that his film Toonpur Ka Superrhero was pushed back to release with Akshay's Tees Maar Khan.
An industry insider says, "Ajay has no problems with anyone except Akshay Kumar, not even SHah Rukh Khan anymore."
