Mumbai: Actor Akshay Kumar, who will feature in Rajinikanth's Robot 2, said that he is grateful to the makers of the film.
Akshay will play the main antagonist in the film.
"I am very glad that I am the first actor to do a Tamil film. I am very happy. And I am grateful to them for putting me there. Which other male actor has gone there? You don't get it (the roles). Down south, they take our heroines. But, I am happy that I am doing it. I would love to break this myth and do a South Indian film. I have done a Marathi and a Punjabi film. I would love to do a Gujarati, Bihari and a Bengali film," said Akshay.
Akshay said Robot 2 also conveys a message.
"I liked the story of Robot 2. Let me just give you one little sneak peek. It teaches you something. There is a message in Robot 2. I loved the script," said Akshay.
However, Akshay said that it was too early to comment whether the film will be bilingual.
"One year is still left. We are still doing the work. Within a month, I'll start shooting," added Akshay. (Also Read: Akshay Kumar Has 'No Authority' to Talk About Rajinikanth's Enthiran 2)
Amitabh Bachchan was reported to have been offered the role of the antagonist in Robot 2 previously. However, Rajinikanth advised him not to do it as his fans will lot like him in a negative character.
On that note, Akshay said, "My fans are very intelligent."
Akshay has played negative roles in films like Ajnabee. "Villains ke awards mein lobbying nahi hoti hai," said Akshay.
Meanwhile, Akshay is gearing up for the release of Airlift, which will release on January 22.
