The makers of the Akshay Kumar's Baby may be going all out to share their box office success, claiming that the film has raked in close to Rs 76 crore so far, however trade experts continue to insist that January has been jinxed so far for Bollywood.
After warm reviews from the critics, this lukewarm reaction to the film's box office business has clearly disappointed the team. (Also Read: Akshay Kumar 'Would Like to Be Called an Actor, Not a Superstar')
Akshay said, "It's not about how many crores you make from the movie, it's about response and also the money that we've spent on making this movie."
Director Neeraj Pandey echoing the sentiment said, "We've at a wonderful second weekend at the box office but we read the reports this morning which were pretty hilarious. But it doesn't matter as long as the audience loves it."
Producer Bhushan Kumar may be still wondering why Baby is not being considered a hit but he seems keen to continue in the thriller genre. His next project Airlift is also with Akshay and focuses on the real life incident of the biggest human evacuation process in Kuwait.
Akshay seems rather excited about the project and says, "It's a very real film. It's a story about the biggest evacuation this world has ever seen. It is a real story," he said. Unlike Baby, however, Airlift will have songs.
Meanwhile, Akshay seems to be adept at maintaining professional relationships and when it comes to his personal life, he credits humour with keeping the romance alive. (Also Read: Twinkle Khanna's Son 'Can't Take' Her Jokes Anymore )
