New Delhi:
Actor Akshay Kumar said that his wife Twinkle Khanna, who is the daughter of veteran actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, has stopped taunting him about not getting awards after his National Award win, reported news agency PTI. In May, Akshay Kumar won the Best Actor award for his performance in 2016 movie Rustom at the 64th National Film Awards. During an education festival in Jaipur, the 49-year-old actor said, "My wife used to taunt me that all her family members have got several awards but not me. The taunting stopped when I got the National award," reported PTI. Akshay Kumar got married to Twinkle Khanna in 2001. They have two children, son Aarav and daughter Nitara.
Akshay Kumar's National Award win was questioned by many people on social media and was attributed to his proximity with filmmaker Priyadarshan, the chairperson of the feature film section for the National Film Awards. Akshay has worked with director Priyadarshan in films like Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Garam Masala.
In an earlier press interaction, the Airlift actor lashed out at critics and said, "I've been hearing it for past 25 years, whenever someone wins there is some discussion around it. This is not new. Someone or the other always creates a controversy. 'He shouldn't have won, the other person should have.' It's okay. I've won this after 26 years, agar woh bhi aapka mann kare toh le lo (take it back if you feel like it)," reported PTI.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is currently awaiting the release of his film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, co-starring Bhumi Pednekar. His other upcoming projects are - 2.0, Gold and Padman.
