Akshay Kumar Says TV Actors 'Deserve To Be Paid More' Than Film Stars. Here's Why

New Delhi: Actor Akshay Kumar, who is all set to judge comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, says that the television artistes should be 'paid more as they work more hard,' reports news agency PTI. Akshay, 50, has often featured on various reality shows, daily soaps to promote his films and also hosted a few seasons of Khatron Ke Khiladi. "I admire television artistes more than people from my industry as their job is hard. We (film actors) don't do one fourth of the hard work that television actors do. I respect them a lot. They work much harder and I feel they should be paid more (than the film stars). If not more, they should get at least what we are paid," Akshay said.

Apart from Khatron Ke Khiladi, Akshay hosted the first season of Master Chef and Dare to Dance. With The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, he is making a comeback on television after a gap of nine years. "Television is not easy as you work continuously. There are several cameras monitoring you. I have learnt to admire people who work on television shows, be it the artiste or other team members. We film actors don't value things," Akshay told PTI.

Akshay also revealed that his mother loves watching television shows. "My mother watches lot of television shows. She is glued to television, she doesn't watch films with so much interest as she sees television shows," he said.

Akshay Kumar's The Great Indian Laughter Challenge goes on air from September 30. His Main Khiladi Tu Anari co-star Saif Ali Khan will reportedly be the first celebrity guest on the show.

Akshay Kumar was last seen in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and is now awaiting the release of Rajinikanth's 2.0, in which he plays the prime antagonist. He also has Padman, Gold and Mogul - The Gulshan Kumar Story in the pipeline.
