Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan are actively promoting their upcoming film Sui Dhaaga and the latest addition to the list of promotional activities is the Sui Dhaaga Challenge, as a part of which the actors are nominating their colleagues to share videos of themselves threading a needle on social media. Akshay Kumar, who was nominated by Varun Dhawan, was the first celebrity to take the Sui Dhaaga Challenge. On Tuesday, he shared a video of himself threading a needle and nominated cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Akshay tweeted: "Jiska kaam uski ko saje aur kare toh danda baje. Mauji bhai (the name of Varun Dhawan's character in Sui Dhaaga). Here's my attempt at the Sui DhaagaChallenge, not as easy as it looks. I now nominate Sachin Tendulkar." Sui Dhaaga showcases the journey of a tailor Mauji (Varun Dhawan) and his embroiderer wife Mamta (Anushka Sharma) who wish to start their own business of clothing.

Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan started this social media challenge on Monday. Anushka shared a video of herself threading a needle and nominated Shah Rukh Khan, with whom she has co-starred in films such as Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Jab Harry Met Sejal and will be seen sharing screen space in her upcoming film Zero. Anushka wrote: "Humne toh kar diya! Ab aap sab ki baari! Ready to thread the needle for the Sui DhaagaChallenge? The challenge is open to everyone... So share your videos on social media and nominate your friends."

This is not the first time that film stars have challenged their colleagues on social media. Earlier this year, Arunachalam Murugunantham (the inventor of low-cost sanitary pad making machine), film's lead actor Akshay Kumar and producer Twinkle Khanna started the PadMan Challenge, which gained massive popularity after many celebrities shared pictures of themselves holding sanitary pads. Another challenge that gained popularity was the Beat Pe Booty Challenge for the film A Flying Jatt wherein Jacqueline Fernandez nominated her colleagues to share videos of themselves dancing to the song Beat Pe Booty.
Directed by Sharat Katariya and produced by Yash Raj Films, Sui Dhaagais set against the backdrop of a small town named Chanderi. Sui Dhaaga is slated to release on September 28.
