Akshay Kumar in Special 26.
Chennai:
Filmmaker Harish Shankar, director of Mirapakay and Gabbar Singh, is all set to helm as well produce the yet-untitled Telugu remake of Akshay Kumar's Special 26.
"Harish is currently busy with the pre-production work of his next film with Allu Arjun. After completing this film, he will commence work on Special 26 remake, which he intends to direct as well as produce with his close friend Krishna," a reliable source told IANS.
Although it was rumoured that Ravi Teja would star in the remake, the source clarified that the cast and crew are yet to be finalised.
Inspired from 1987 Opera House heist where a group posing as Income Tax officer raided the jeweler, Special 26 also featured Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher and Jimmy Sheirgill.
