In a surprising revelation, two decades after the release of Aladdin, its directors John Musker and Ron Clements have confirmed that the fan theory that the peddler who appears at the beginning of Aladdin actually Genie in disguise, reported The Huffington Post.

"I saw something that speculates that the peddler at the beginning of Aladdin is the Genie. That's true!" Mr Clements said.
The makers were initially planning to reveal the secret at the end of the film, but after the film went on for editing, they lost the said portion.
"Through story changes and some editing the revelation was lost. So, that's an urban legend that actually is true," he added.
