Los Angeles:
Sex and the City 2 actress Alice Eve is being lined to play a new character in the Star Trek sequel.
The actress is reportedly being targeted for a role in JJ Abrams' forthcoming sci-fi sequel, in which she will play a brand new character, reported Variety magazine.
If Eve does sign up, she will join Benicio Del Toro, who is tipped to play the film's villain, and returning cast members Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Anton Yelchin, John Cho and Karl Urban.
It was recently revealed that Star Trek 2 will be filmed in 3-D, despite Abrams saying he has previously been hesitant about using the technology.
Shooting on the movie is scheduled to start next month, with the film slated for release on May 17, 2013.
