The Madras High Court bench on Wednesday refused to pass an interim injunction restraining the makers of actor Karthi's Tamil rural actioner Komban from releasing the film in cinemas.
Justices S Tamilvanan and VS Ravi turned down a petition filed by Puthiya Tamilagam President K Krishnasamy seeking a stay on the film's release, claiming it's based on a clash between two castes and could possibly affect the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu.
The judges said they can't stop a film from releasing without knowing its content.
A 10-member committee was appointed by the court to view the film and submit a report on Tuesday. However, due to some untoward incident during the private screening in Madurai, it was subsequently called off.
Komban releases in cinemas today evening.
