Ayushmann Khurrana in a still from Dum Laga Ke Haisha.
New Delhi:
Ayushmann Khurrana's latest film Dum Laga Ke Haisha just made over Rs 30 crores but the actor has another reason to smile. Ayushmann, whose performance as the middle-class Prem Prakash Tiwari from Haridwar has been noted by critics, received a hand-written letter from Amitabh Bachchan, no less, praising the young actor's mastery of the region's diction and mannerisms.
Mr Bachchan, who is currently in New Delhi to receive his Padma Vibhushan, described Ayushmann's performance as 'flawless' and wrote: "The tone of the language and gestures of the region were immaculate. I know the region. I was born and brought up in its vicinity. I could not find any error."
A thrilled Ayushmann Instagrammed the note, captioning it 'Hail Bachchan Saab':
Mr Bachchan, 72, often sends a personal hand-written note to rising stars whenever he feels their performance has been outstanding.
Earlier, Ayushmann said that he had also surprised his "worst and best critic", his father, with his performance. In an interview to IANS, Ayushmann said, "He was like, 'I didn't even think you can do this kind of a good job'. I'm from Punjabi family and we all speak Punjabi at home. He can't really believe that I can speak Khari Boli He was really surprised." (Also Read: Ayushmann Khurrana Surprised His 'Best and Worst Critic' With Dum Laga Ke Haisha)
