Megastar Amitabh Bachchan willinaugurate the Kolkata Film Festival to be held this November,official sources said today.
Big B's confirmation comes after West Bengal ChiefMinister Mamata Banerjee personally requested the actor to bepresent during the inaugural ceremony to be held on November10.
"Amitabh Bachchan responds to Mamata Banerjee, comingto Kolkata, will inaugurate Kolkata International FilmFestival on 10th November," Trinamool MP Kunal Ghosh said in atweet.
The 17th edition of the film fest held last year wasinaugurated by Shah Rukh Khan and Sharmila Tagore at theNetaji Indoor Stadium.
SRK, also the state's brand ambassador, might also bepresent at this year's inaugural show, sources said.
The CM, also the state's information and culturalaffairs minister, had revived the film festival after comingto power last year by bringing in Bollywood stars.
Incidentally, Mamata Banerjee and Mr Bachchan had both made theirdebut in Lok Sabha together in 1984.
