Smita Patil and Amitabh Bachchan in a still from Namak Halaal.
Mumbai:
Actor Amitabh Bachchan said that his Namak Halaal co-star Smita Patil, was the strongest woman he knew and her death was a big loss to the film industry.
Namak Halaal completed 34 years on Saturday and Mr Bachchan, on his official blog, wrote that Ms Patil was uncomfortable throughout the film's shoot as she wasn't sure about what she was doing in the movie.
"NamakHalal celebrates 34 years. With the exceptional Smita Patil, who was so uncomfortable during the shooting of the entire film because she just could not understand why she was asked to do what she was asked to do in the film. But she did it with a lot of personal persuasion from me and it came out fine. She was gentle and frail but stronger than anything you could ever encounter in a woman. Truly a gift we lost, we never should have," wrote Big B on his official blog.
"Most of the shooting for the film was done at the newly constructed Seth Studios, the first A/C floor of its kind in the entire industry. And this is in the 80′s. Its elegance and well managed and kept, ambiance was a delight to all of us, used to somewhat lesser maintained work places," added Big B.
Smita Patil was known for her roles in films like Mandi, Bazaar and Arth.
