Amy Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning

Amy Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning
Los Angeles: The inquest report released on Amy Winehouse's death yesterday (October 26, 2011) has brought her family closure.

The reason for the singer's shock death at the age 27 was revealed to be alcohol poisoning.

Her father Mitch insists her loved ones can now try to move on and honour her memory through the Amy Winehouse Foundation - which he has set up to help youngsters battling problems of drinking and drugs.

Following the release of the coroner's report, he wrote on his twitter page: "Now we can remember all our good times together and concentrate on helping kids through Amy's foundation."

The jazz singer also revealed he and the rest of the family spent the afternoon following news remembering Amy.

He added in other tweets: "The family are sitting around laughing at Amy's antics. She would love that. Amy was not a tragic person. She was a fighter. Dry our tears and let's get cracking."

The medical investigation into the Back To Black singer's death revealed her blood alcohol levels were five times the UK drink-drive limit and her passing was classed as death by misadventure.

St. Pancras coroner Suzanne Greenway said, "She had consumed sufficient alcohol at 416mg per decilitre (of blood) and the unintended consequence of such potentially fatal levels was her sudden and unexpected death."

The inquest also found that her vital organs were in good health and she had no traces of illegal drugs in her system.

Amy battled with drink and drug addiction throughout her life and was hospitalised a number of times and had several spells in rehab.
