Filmmaker Prakash Jha acknolwedged the help he got from Maths Wizard and Super30founder Anand Kumar for helping him impart maths teachingskills to Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan in his newventure Aarakshan slated to be screened on August 12.
"I am really thankful to Anand Kumar for his sincereefforts in helping me to direct the maths coaching portion ofthe film . .. Kumar accepted with humility my request to himto come to Mumbai and coach me in mathematics", Jha told PTI.
"It has been an exciting experience.. it becomes very easyfor me to direct Amit Ji and Saif Ali Khan for themaths teaching scene... I am really indebted to Kumar for theway he coached me", he said.
"His inimitable style of teaching and grasp of thesubject reminds me how a learner learns the ABC ofmaths", Jha said.
"I am also looking forward a to meeting between Kumarand the two actors very soon... we will extend ourwarm welcome and acknowledge the endeavour he made for us bysparing time from his busy schedule", Jha said.
Asked what prompted him to request Anand Kumar for hishelp, "I know him for doing exceedingly well for the studentsfrom the underprivileged sections of society whom he teacheswith perfection free of cost without even taking any chargefor their lodging and meals."
Having missed the opportunity to go to Cambridge in 1994due to acute financial constraint, Anand set up the RamanujanSchool of Mathematics for teaching mathematics to poorchildren in 1992. In 2002, he set up Super 30, where heprovides free education, food and lodging to 30 talentedstudents from underprivileged sections of the society for theIIT-JEE.
In the last nine years, 236 students have qualified. Anand says he is impressed by the gesture of PrakashJha and "I wish him all success for the film."
