A still from the movie Andaz Apna Apna
New Delhi:
The cult classic comedy Andaz Apna Apna, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, will be re-released in cinema halls this November, to celebrate having completed two decades this year. Released on April 11, 1994, the movie starred Salman Khan and Aamir Khan and didn't do well at the box-office initially. Over the years, it became a cult classic and some of the dialogues and characters from the movie have left an everlasting impression on the audience.
Fans might be thrilled at the chance of re-living the experience on a 70mm screen but Aamir Khan is reportedly not too happy that the movie is being re-released.
While Aamir and Salman struck up a friendship that has lasted till today, the lead actresses of the film - Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon - were bitter rivals and are believed to not have been on talking terms.
Although the movie took three years to be made, it amassed popularity gradually and recieved nominations for the 1995 Filmfare Awards in four categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor for Aamir and Best Comedian for Shakti Kapoor who played the very popular parody villain Crimemaster Gogo.
