Anil Kapoor Nothing Like Dil Dhadakne Do's Kamal Mehra, Says His Daughter Sonam

New Delhi: Actor Anil Kapoor's claim that he is nothing like his character in new film Dil Dhadakne Do has been bolstered by his actress daughter Sonam who watched her father play the head of the madcap Mehra family at a screening in Mumbai.

Anil Kapoor has described Kamal Mehra as 'completely bananas' and has more than once had to clarify that off-screen, he isn't. (Also Read: Five Reasons Dil Dhadakne Do May Make You Smile)

Sonam agrees and adds, "That's just a testimony to how amazing he is in the film." She tweeted:

From the trailer and other glimpses of the film, we know that Mr Kapoor plays the role of a business man who wants his own way, be it his son Kabir's (Ranveer Singh) love life or his daughter Ayesha's (Priyanka Chopra) marital issues or his wife Neelam's (Shefali Shah) diet.

In his review for NDTV, Saibal Chatterjee writes that Anil Kapoor's character Kamal Mehra "is too full of himself to notice that neither his wife nor his son and daughter think much of him." (Movie Review: Dil Dhadakne Do)

The film also stars Farhan Akhtar and Anushka Sharma. Aamir Khan has voiced the Mehra's pet Mastiff, named Pluto.

Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor is in Malaysia for the ongoing IIFA Awards, where Dil Dhadakne Do will be screened on June 6.
