Actress Anne Hathaway has offeredtips on hosting the Oscars to next year's first-time helmerSeth MacFarlane.
Hathaway, 30, co-hosted the 2011 Academy Awards with JamesFranco but their presentation of the ceremony was roundlycriticized in the press, reported Digital Spy.
"This is my advice to Seth - based on my own experience.You have to try to strike a balance between keeping the peopleof the room entertained and keeping the people at home fromthinking you're nuts.
"The instinct is to play to the room, because otherwisethe audience there gets really bored and restless. Me with mytheater background, I played to the back row of the Kodak,which has 3,500 people. To the people at home, it could comeoff as a little over-the-top. I've never seen [the wholething)... But I felt like I made a rookie mistake," she said.
The 85th Academy Awards will take place on February 24,2013 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
