"B.V. Pradhan (his character) of Saaransh. My life changed. I complete 30 years in Indian Cinema today (Sunday). Happy birthday to me," the National Award-winning actor tweeted.
He also wrote that his life changed after acting in the Mahesh Bhatt's directorial venture.
"On May 25, 1984 a young man's life was to change for ever. A cult classic 'Saaransh' was to release," he posted.
Anupam, who is married to actor-politician Kirron Kher, has been widely appreciated for his roles in films like Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara, Khosla Ka Ghosla, A Wednesday, Saudagar and Lamhe.
