Anurag Kashyap is a happy man after his film Gangs of Wasseypur, a two-part revenge saga, played to a full house at the 65th Cannes Film Festival. But he almost didn't directiit. According to reports, Hansal Mehta, who directed films like Dus Kahaniyaan and Sikandar Kher-Arbaaz Khan starrer Woodstock Villa, was the first choice of director and not Kashyap.

In a recent tweet, Hansal said,
And, Anurag Kashyap's recent statement where he says that his ambitious project Gangs of Wasseypur almost did not get made as no one believed in the script initially, might be an indication that the script was offered to someone else first.
