Ms Rizvi, who shot to fame with the Aamir Khan produced Peepli Live (2010), wrote a screenplay based on the book and narrated it to Mr Ghosh. The book was published in 2008 and was shortlisted for the Man Booker prize. It is an adventure set against a backdrop of opium trade.
Ms Rizvi confirmed that she is directing the film to Hindustantimes.com, saying: "It's a love story, a revenge saga, an adventure romance and an action drama all rolled into one, and set against the backdrop of the sea. Right now, we are trying to raise funds for the film."
Ms Rizvi is one of eight winners of the Mumbai Mantra-Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab 2012. Peepli Live was Anusha Rizvi's debut film and was India's Oscar entry in 2010.
