Kolkata:
Filmmaker Aparna Sen said that she will continue experimenting with her films although she was disappointed with the response to her recent Bengali film Arshinagar.
"Obviously, I am not happy with the response. It was well before its time. The audience have a certain type of expectation from me as I have been typecasted. I have got extreme responses for the film. The intellectuals have liked it while others could not understand," said Ms Sen.
Arshinagar, which released on December 25, is a modern adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The film has been selected for the Cinema Indian Festival, which will be held in Sweden in April as a part of the India Unlimited program.
However, she said that she will continue making films.
"No. I'll continue to make those films which I want to. If my next script demands some kind of experiment in storytelling, I will do it for sure. I do not want to keep doing the same type of films. If the audience keeps on watching the same type of films, they will not know what lies beyond," she said.
Aparna Sen is best known for making films like 36 Chowringhee Lane, Mr and Mrs Iyer and 15 Park Avenue.(Also Read: Aparna Sen: Might do a sequel to Mr and Mrs Iyer)
