AR Rahman is the latest star to have got the COVID-19 vaccine shot. The Oscar winning composer shared a picture of himself along with his son AR Ameen after getting vaccinated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The father-son duo, wearing masks, can be seen posing for the selfie. "Vaccinated #1stjabdone #covishield," the 54-year-old composer captioned his post. He asked his Instafam if they got themselves vaccinated. "Have you?" he asked. He is the latest addition to the list of big stars to get vaccinated after Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Hema Malini, Mohanlal, Jeetendra, Kamal Haasan, Nagarjuna, to name a few.

In terms of work, AR Rahman's film 99 Songs released in theatres earlier this year. The musical marks AR Rahman's debut as a producer and a co-writer, and it stars Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas in the lead roles.

AR Rahman's list of awards includes six National Awards and several Filmfare Awards from across Bollywood and the South film industry. He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2000 and Padma Bhushan in 2010 for his contribution to Indian music and cinema.

In the international sphere, AR Rahman made his debut as a Grammy-winner and struck double gold with two wins in the categories Best Compilation Soundtrack for a Motion Picture (for Slumdog Millionaire) and Best Motion Picture Song (for Jai Ho). AR Rahman's Grammy wins were two more trophies added to his awards legacy, headlined by the Academy Awards - he won two Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire in 2009.
