Oscar winner A R Rahman launched the theme song for Commonwealth Games 2010. The Group of Minister (GoM) on the Games had approved the song at a meeting, after it heard the rendition of the song.
"We discussed the theme song among ourselves and A R Rahman, (Film Director) Shyam Benegal and (Producer) Bharat Bala. The GoM has approved the theme song in principle." Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy, who heads the GoM, had said after the meeting.
Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi accompanied the musical maestro to the podium for the launch of the song.
With just 48 days to go, everyone unanimously voiced the priority is to makes the games a success. Rahman himself requested everyone to give a positive image of India to the world.
According to sources the idea was to ensure that the song becomes a sensation like his own Jai Ho and Soccer World Cup theme song Waka Waka.
