Finally, all the speculations around the lead actor in Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala's 2 States - a film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's novel - can now come to rest.
Arjun Kapoor will be playing the lead role in the film to be directed by debutante Abhishek Verman. (Read: Surname doesn't matter, good work does: Arjun Kapoor)
According to a source, "Arjun Kapoor has been signed on to play the lead for the role. The deal happened recently and the film will roll by the end of this year. The leading lady is yet to be finalised." (Read: Salman Khan beyond a mentor for me, says Arjun Kapoor)
The source further said, "Sajid Nadiadwala has bought the rights of the book from Chetan Bhagat and had initially planned to make the film with SRK, which was to be directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. However after the plans fizzled, Ranbir Kapoor stepped in and then it was Imran Khan. However, he also had to opt out due to date problems. According to the source, Arjun will play a Delhi boy, who falls in love with a south Indian girl and the film will be shot in Delhi.
Abhishek Verman, son of veteran art director R Verman will be making his directorial debut with the film.
