Actor Arjun Rampal has been summoned by the Mumbai Police for allegedly having met jailed gangster Arun Gawli without court permission. Mr Rampal has been called for questioning by the JJ Marg police station. He has not yet been charged with an offence so it is unclear what penalty he will face, if any.
Mr Rampal, 42, is believed to have visited Mr Gawli while he was in Mumbai's JJ Hospital last December. The actor was preparing for a role in his new film Daddy which is based on Mr Gawli's life. (Also Read: Arjun Rampal Loses Weight to Play Gangster Arun Gawli)
Arun Gawli has been in Mumbai's Taloja Jail since 2009. In 2012, he was convicted in a murder case and handed a life sentence.
Arjun Rampal will next be seen in the film Roy, releasing on February 13. It co-stars actors Ranbir Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez.
