Having starred in big budgetmovies like Ghajini and Ready, it would seem Asin is doingfine in Bollywood but the actress says she now wants to dogood, well written roles.
The 27-year-old actress is often referred to as the'Queen of 100 crore films' as five out of her six films in herBollywood career, including last years' hits Bol Bachchanand Khiladi 786, are part of the elite club.
These films, often driven by their male leads, don't havemuch for their actresses to do when it comes to performance.
"I have taken a conscious decision about my career. Thisyear I plan to take it little slower. The box office recordand 100 crore club, big films, good collection- all that hashappened.
"I should move forward and try and do more roles whichgive me more scope to perform. I think it is the right time inmy career to take this decision since it is now that I havethe freedom to choose my roles," Asin told PTI.
The actress, who began her acting career in the SouthIndian film industry, turned to Bollywood after establishingherself there. Her first Hindi film, Ghajini opposite AamirKhan was the remake of her breakthrough film of the same name.
Asin was singled out for acting her part brilliantly andremained in the memory despite sharing screen space with AamirKhan. Not surprisingly, she was chosen to star alongsidesuperstars like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.
Asin is keen to add some variety to her resume and focuson creative satisfaction.
"I don't want to do exactly female oriented roles. I donot want the whole film and story to revolve around me only.Whatever there was to prove has already been proven with theseentertainers. Now I think I should try to satisfy the artistin me.
"We all want to work for creative satisfaction and thatwill come when you portray a very well written characterbecause that is when you get to perform. I don't believe inbeing part of any race," Asin said.
The actress has just returned from a long vacation in theUS with friends and family. The visit was blown out ofproportion with reports of an impending marriage, which Asinlater denied.
"I just laughed it off. When people don't know where youare, then they tend to speculate and it was somebody'soveractive imagination going overboard. It is funny because Iam single and there is no guy or fiance at all. I am nottaken," Asin said.
"I am happy that a lot of people came to me and clarifiedwithout giving it much of an importance."
When asked what is keeping her busy, Asin said, "Rightnow I am caught up with the endorsement responsibilitiesbecause last year was all about films and promotions. WithHoli and IPL coming up, I am busy with both campaigns."
