Iulia Vantur and Salman Khan (L) and Katrina Kaif (R) at the Sultan screening in Mumbai.
New Delhi:
Are you all set for a 440 volt ka jhatka?
Actor Salman Khan hosted a special screening of his new film Sultan at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai on Tuesday and the 50-year-old actor arrived with his rumoured girlfriend, Romanian television personality Iulia Vantur. If that's not enough, we have more. Salman's rumoured ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif also attended the screening.
Salman and Iulia made a public appearance at actress Preity Zinta's wedding reception in May. A few days before that, Iulia was also spotted at the Mumbai airport with Salman and his family, helping his mother Salma Khan navigate the crowded terminal. Soon after, certain sections of the press reported that Salman will marry Iulia this year. However, in a press conference in Mumbai in May, Salman said that he will "tweet the news" of his marriage to his fans.
Katrina Kaif, 32, who has made films like Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya and Ek Tha Tiger with Salman, attended the screening with filmmaker Karan Johar.
Apart from Iulia and Katrina, Sultan actress Anushka Sharma, Elli Avram and Daisy Shah also watched the film.
Actors Sidharth Malhotra, Sultan star Randeep Hooda, Varun Dhawan, Sooraj Pancholi, Nikhil Dwivedi and Anupam Kher, Salman's brother Arbaaz and musician Himesh Reshammiya also cheered for Bhaijaan.
The directors' corner included David Dhawan and Subhash Ghai. Mr Dhawan has directed Salman in several films, including Biwi No 1 and Partner. Mr Ghai made Yuvraaj with him. Salman's Bajrangi Bhaijaan director Kabir Khan came with his wife Mini Mathur and producer Bhushan Kumar arrived with his filmmaker wife Divya Khosla. Sidharth Roy Kapur was also at the screening.
Family present included Salman's father Salim Khan, mother Salma and step-mother Helen. Veteran actors Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh and Prem Chopra also watched the film.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan has still not apologised for having compared himself to a "raped woman" when asked about filming Sultan. He responded to a summons from the National Commission of Women last Wednesday with a lawyer's letter which did not contain an apology. He has been summoned again on July 8.
On Monday, Aamir Khan branded Salman's comment as "rather unfortunate and rather insensitive." His was the first piece of unqualified criticism from a top star, coming as it did in the wake of Shah Rukh Khan who last week begged off from offering an opinion.
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Sultan released today.
