The nation lost its voice on Sunday with the demise of “Nightingale” Lata Mangeshkar. Since then, homages have been pouring in from all quarters. From commoners to celebrities to politicians and sports personalities, people have been showing their love to the singer, who enthralled with her voice cutting across generations. Now, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has penned a heartwarming note for the legendary singer. “At a loss for words…Prayers for your divine soul to Rest in Peace, Lataji… God Bless…In absolute gratitude for you…And, all your Blessings… Eternally.” Lata Mangeshkar, 92, died on Sunday. The singer was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital after she was diagnosed with COVID-19.
Lata Mangeshkar had also given voice to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. A fan, in the comment section, recalled the romantic number Humko Humise Chura Lo from the film Mohabbatein and wrote, “We love the iconic Humko Humise Chura Lo song and her voice suited perfectly.”
Members of the Bachchan family, Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan and his daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda, had visited Lata Mangeshkar's house to pay their last respects. Amitabh Bachchan has been a part of a number of hit duet numbers sung by Lata Mangeshkar.
Amitabh Bachchan has also shared a throwback video on Instagram to pay his tribute to Lata Mangeshkar. The clip is from an award function. In the caption, the actor wrote, “She has left us...The voice of a million centuries has left us...She resounds now in the heavens.”
Navya Naveli Nanda dropped a red heart and folded hand emojis under the post. Actor Arjun Rampal wrote, “Wow, no one could have articulated this any better.”
Abhishek Bachchan has also written a note for the legendary Lata Mangeshkar. Calling it “an irreplaceable loss”, he said, “Today, we have lost the greatest of all time. We are all left heartbroken and speechless. An irreplaceable loss. Rest in glory Lata ji. Thank you for blessing us with your voice, talent and compassion. We are privileged to have lived in the times of the great Lata Mangeshkar.”
