It is not just one of the biggest award ceremonies of the year but also its most exciting. The Golden Globes, touted as the funnier version of the more staid Oscars, not only has the couture but also the calories to literally die for.
This year, chef Troy Thompson has prepared his recipes with an eye to cutting calories while maintaining taste. Service starts with a scrumptious julienne of apple, celery and grapes in an emulsion of whipped egg white and lemon juice, rather than the traditional mayonnaise, settled on a bed of romaine lettuce, topped with a crouton, drizzled with walnut oil.
The three-course meal has been inspired by Californian fresh farm produce. Healthy yet heinously decadent is what you can expect your favorite stars to dine on this year. The entrée is a duo of onion-marinated filet Mignon and slow-baked Arctic chard, a tomato fondue and black Tuscan kale.
The dessert is lemon cheesecake, chocolate alliance salted caramel and hazelnut turrets linked by a bolt of chocolate sauce. One of the turrets balances a ball of gold.
Chef Thompson's version of fewer calories is still going to have more than one couture-clad celebrity sucking their stomachs in by the end of the show.
The Globes will be held in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday, January 11. India gets to watch early Monday morning.
