Actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Hawaizaada, says his film, which is based on the life of scientist Shivkar Bapuji Talpade, is not a biopic.
In the film, Ayushmann will be seen playing the role of scientist Shivkar Bapuji Talpade, who is believed to have constructed and flown India's first unmanned airplane in 1895.
"I cannot term this (Hawaizaada) film as a biopic because nothing is known about this person (Shivkar Bapuji Talpade). You know about sprinter Milkha Singh, boxer Mary Kom (MC Mary Kom) and freedom fighter Gandhiji (Mahatma Gandhi), but you don't know much about Shivkar Talpade. So, technically, Hawaizaada is not a biopic," Ayushmann told IANS.
"But Hawaizaada is based on true events. And I'm sure the audience is going to like it," he added.
When asked what was the best thing about Hawaizaada, Ayushmann said: "The best thing about Hawaizaada is the novelty of the script, which shows that the first aircraft was made by an Indian. Apart from that, the look of the film is very international. Every frame of the film looks like a painting and the dialogues are beautiful," he added.
Directed by Vibhu Puri, Hawaizaada also features Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Sharda in key roles. The film is set to release on January 30, 2015.
